The article examines the development of digital platforms in the context of the gig economy and their impacton contemporary society and the labor market. An analysis of the evolution of the term "digital platform" isconducted, identifying digital platforms as an organizational form that emerged within the framework of the fifthwave of capitalist development, based on information technologies. Special attention is given to the innovativeaspects of digital platforms, defined as technological, organizational, economic, and social. The article exploresthe organizational innovations of the information age, such as remote work and virtual teams, and envisions thefuture of economies and societies associated with decentralized networks of electronic communications. Digitalplatforms organize these communications in a distinctive way, consolidating information, power, andmanagement. The perspectives of digital platforms in modern conditions are discussed, emphasizing theimportance of computerization, internetization, automation, digitalization, and the platformization of theeconomy and society. The role of digital platforms in introducing new organizational forms, particularly remotework and virtual teams, and their impact on various work sectors are examined. The emergence of trade andlabor platforms is analyzed, and key technological factors, such as the development of algorithmic managementand artificial intelligence, are identified. Technological and organizational aspects of the gig economy arediscussed, highlighting its main advantages and challenges. It is noted that the gig economy influences not onlytraditional forms of work but also transforms social!labor relations and has a broad impact on economicstructures. The impact of platform solution elements on corporate practice and the public sector is investigated, including the creation of in!house platforms for the coordination and control of employee activities. The prospectsof gig economy development are identified, and key issues, such as the legal status of workers, labor rights,algorithmic management, and monopolies, are highlighted. It is emphasized that the gig economy is at a turningpoint, where balancing the positive and negative aspects of this phenomenon is crucial for achieving sustainabledevelopment and social stability.
